Exchange Visit - May 2007

Members of the Twinning Association took part in our annual exchange visit on the bank holiday weekend from the 26th to the 29th of May 2007. This year it was the turn of our friends in Faches to host the exchange and what a good job they made of it.

When we arrived there was a fête in progress celebrating the fine produce of the region - in particular a newly launched beer named after the town. A tasting was required and we all rose manfully to the task.

The following morning we went for a boat trip on the canals around St Omer. Then, after a very pleasant lunch, we were treated to a quite unusual ride on a disused railway. As the photo shows, what we had was basically a pedal-powered bogie for four people - two pedalling and two passengers. It was easy going downhill and on the flat but I must admit I did break into a sweat when the gradient went the other way.

On our final day we all had a lazy morning with our host families before the return journey home. Some members, though, decided to extend their visit with a few extra days sightseeing around the region.
